About Solid Cactus

Before shopping from home was heard of, Solid Cactus Co-Founders, Scott Sanfilippo and Joe Palko  took a chance and opened one of the first online stores to hit the web. Aspiring to sell supplies for pet ferrets, the two eCommerce pioneers released TheFerretStore.com in 1994, while storing inventory in an apartment closet.  While TheFerretStore.com continued to grow, the company launched additional pet supply websites, and formed an advertising and design firm called Solid Cactus.

After successfully designing more than 3,500 websites, and expanding internal capabilities to offer services for each level of online store development, Solid Cactus continues to make its own name in the world of eCommerce. Solid Cactus, however, stayed in their control where it grew to become the revolutionary eCommerce solution provider it is today.

Solid Cactus Today

In 2009 Solid Cactus was acquired by Web.com (Nasdaq:WWWW), a leading provider of online marketing for small businesses.  Scott and Joe remain key figures in the future success of Solid Cactus and are proud of our past, present and future achievements which include:

  • Employing more than 150 employees, Solid Cactus was voted “One of the Best Places to Work in PA” in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
  • Operating from two locations in northeast Pennsylvania, Solid Cactus does not outsource. Technical employees work out of our corporate headquarters in Shavertown while our call center is located in Wilkes-Barre
  • Inc. Magazine listed Solid Cactus as one of the top 500 fastest growing private companies in 2007 and one of the top 5000 fastest growing private companies in 2008.
  • To inspire the world of eCommerce in an off-line medium, Solid Cactus developed eBiz Insider© The official magazine of Solid Cactus.
  • Administered by the Luzerne Foundation, the Solid Cactus Cares Fund was founded in 2007 by Solid Cactus as a way for employees to give back to the community.
  • Solid Cactus has expanded to serve as a total eCommerce solutions provider. We do much more than just design websites.
